Google Play feature graphic size

Last checked against the stores' own documentation on .

The Google Play feature graphic is 1024 × 500 pixels, saved as JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no transparency. Every app needs one to publish its store listing.

Play shows it as the cover of your preview video, if you have one, and in its large-format collections of apps and games.

The spec

RuleFeature graphic
Size1024 × 500 px (a wide banner, about 2:1)
File typeJPEG or 24-bit PNG
TransparencyNone: no alpha channel
RequiredYes, to publish your store listing

Where it appears

  • On your store listing, as the cover image of your preview video, when you have one. The video plays from it, so leave room for the play button drawn on top.
  • In Play's large-format collections, where apps and games are shown as banners rather than as icons.

How to design it

  • One idea, few words. The banner is often seen small, on a phone. A short line in large type reads; a sentence doesn't.
  • Keep what matters away from the edges. Give text and key artwork generous margins so nothing important sits at the border.
  • Show the app or its world. A phone with your best screen, or the artwork your app is known for, says more than a logo on a flat colour.
  • Match your screenshots. The same colours and type as the rest of your listing make the page read as one piece.
  • No rankings or prices. Google's guidance for preview assets asks you to leave out claims like "#1" or "Best" and offers like "Free" or "50% off".
  • No transparency. Export an opaque PNG or JPEG; a PNG with an alpha channel is refused.

Making it in Screenlyy

Screenlyy has a Feature graphic row next to your Android screenshots. It exports at 1024 × 500 as an opaque PNG, in its own folder of the same zip as your App Store and Google Play screenshots, with the same fonts, colours and device frames.
